Tropical storm Arlene made her way into Tennessee, fouling the scheduled June 11 date for the 4th Annual Would Championship Open "Bubba Jug" Catfish Tournament at Birdsong Resort, Marina and Campground, located in the heart of Kentucky Lake in Camden, TN. Severe winds and rains captured most of the evening of the would-have-been tournament time, and Tim "Bubba Jug" Garrett was pleased with his re-scheduling decision.

Tournament rain date was Saturday, July 10. Jug fishers from as far away as Orlando, FL gathered to compete for the 2005 title. The nature of the method of sport, made this tournament unique in format – participants had to complete registration procedures, begin fishing at 7:00 p.m., and be present for roll call and weigh-in at 7:00 a.m. the following morning. Trailering was allowed. Jug fishing is an old, simple and effective method of fishing that has been used by commercial and sport fishermen for many years. A hook, line, and sinker attached to a free-floating device (such as a jug), is baited and set out in the river or lake. When the fish bite, the "jugs" bob and dance on the water. Fishermen are then set with the task of chasing and retrieving the jug – and fish. To learn more about jug fishing, visit www.JugFishing.com.

Fishermen began to emerge from beyond the morning fog for roll call and weigh-in a little before 7:00 a.m. Claiming the 2005 "Bubba Jug" World Champion title was Scott Kimberly, Hendersonville, TN, weighing in fifteen (15) fish for a total of 112.33 lbs. Second place was James McGiboney, McMinnville, TN, who weighed in seventeen (17) fish with a combined weight of 82.95 lbs. Dave Kimberly, Mt. Juliet, TN, took the third position with seven (7) fish weighing 80.28 lbs. Optional participation "Big Whiskers" pool was also taken by Scott Kimberly with his one fish weighing 34.23 lbs.
