Birdsong Resort and Marina To Host 2006 Tennessee B.A.S.S. Jr. Championship July 29

Junior Bassmasters who have qualified in their own clubs from across Tennessee will compete July 29 at Birdsong Resort on Kentucky Lake in Camden, Tennessee for the Tennessee B.A.S.S. Junior Federation National Championship. The Bass Anglers Sportsman Society better know as BASS is the largest fishing organization in the world, grandfathered by Ray Scott of Alabama and it currently on ESPN with a weekly 30 minute show called the Bassmasters and continues a monthly magazine also named the Bassmasters.

The competition, from 6 a.m. until 11 a.m., will be divided into two age brackets (11-14 and 15-18). Winners in each division will have the opportunity to represent Tennessee at the 2007 Junior B.A.S.S World Championship. Champions are determined by the heaviest catches (five-fish limit) brought the weigh-in that immediately follows the competition.

The public is welcome and encouraged to attend weigh-in ceremonies at Birdsong's Weigh In Station near the marina.

One youth from each age group will fish in the same boat with an adult boat captain who can only pilot the boat to the locations agreed upon by the youth anglers. All participants will receive participation awards and tackle provided by Strike King Lures, Bandit Lures, Peanut Craft Lures, Bass Pro Shops, Carl Grahamıs Hammer Rods and Sportsmans Connection of Brownsville, Tenn and a complimentary Pearl of A Tour for two from Birdsong's Tennessee River Freshwater Pearl Museum, Farm and Tour located in Camden, on Kentucky Lake, west Tennessee..

Three-time State Champion and 2006 Jr. World Champion Nick Kelly, Brownsville, Tenn., will be defending his championship as well as Brandon Lane, Clinton, Tenn., who won the younger division last year. In February, both competed in Orlando, Florida for the Jr. World Championship.

The staff of the Tennessee's Wildside television show will also be attending to film the event for a future airing on the Tennessee Public Broadcasting System stations. The World championship will be held at Birmingham, Alabama in late February according to Joe Sills, Tennessee State B.A.S.S Federation National Youth Director.

The state championship at Birdsong Resort and Marina is to be presented by Elliot Outdoors on Vann Drive in Jackson, Tennessee. The results and pictures will be made available on the www.BirdsongResort.com website shortly after the tournament.
