The Fred Torres and Savannah Tennessee Volunteer
Navy River Rats trek to Birdsong

For the 16th year, Fred Torres and the group from Savannah Tennessee and beyond arrived at Birdsong Resort and Marina for a fun filled fall weekend by boat. They are part of UT's Volunteer Navy, as they cruise down the river to stay at Birdsong, meet new friends, renew old ones and enjoy the UT/Arkansas Game on ESPN in the Bluebird and Hummingbird cottages.

As Birdsong's southern hospitality tradition, we like to imprint the UT can huggies with their inscription, "Fred Torres and the Savannah River Rats Annual Kentucky Lake Cruise October 5, 2002".

This year, the Savannah bunch met up with a group of 6 SeaRay boats from lower Illinois and they all concurred that in 2003, they would all communicate before hand and meet here at Birdsong for another "UT Party". Too bad that UT does not play Illinois, but they are not as gung ho about UT as we are. What a party that would be at Birdsong.

With the huge BBQ grill, a big screen TV, full kitchen, dozens of picnic tables and the slick dance floor all under the pavilion, next years event should be one fun tailgate party. Or should I say, "Stern Party" for all the salty sailors?
