Show Me Tours, a motor coach group tour originating from Atlanta, Missouri had a full coach with tourists from Iowa and Missouri, traveling to Tennessee’s Freshwater Pearl Museum and Farm in west Tennessee. The group went on to LL’s Dude Ranch and overnighted in Nashville. The itinerary for day two is the General Jackson Showboat and then onto Opry Mills for shopping. “Quite a spectacular tour and such a beautiful State of Tennessee” says Doris Claybourne, Show Me Group Leader.

The coach arrived at Birdsong Resort and Marinas, Freshwater Pearl Museum and the group was welcomed with lemonade and popcorn. “Such as easy drive, says Bill Hanson, the coach driver. Tennessee is blessed with good roads so the motor coach operators enjoy the easabilty of Tennessee. The pearl museum and farm is located at exit 133 off -40 which is halfway from Nashville to Memphis.

The May 5th arrival date was a little overcast but as the morning wore off, the birds and the sun prevailed. The group enjoyed the diver John’s demonstration as he bubbled up from the deep murky bottom of the scenic Tennessee’s beautiful Kentucky Lake. After shucking a few of the washboard and heal splitter mussels, the group went to the covered pavilion to witness the opening of the mollusk that had been implanted with a seed to produce a pearl. The pearl was passed around by Don Nerren, pearl farm manger when he discovered two more beautiful and most lustrous pearls in coin shape. The group took plenty of pictures with the complimentary cameras given out by Bob Keast, owner and operator of Birdsong and the Pearl Tour.

The group then enjoyed Baked beans, Potato salad, BBQ Chicken, and Pulled Pork. After the lunch festivities the group then was escorted the Pearl jewelry showroom where plenty of pearls were purchased as souvenirs.

Along for the ride was a very sweet 95 year old, Helen Woodard from the” Show Me State who was traveling alone and leading the way! She sure had a lot of “punch” “Everyone on the group had a blast, and had an easy time getting around. After touring at Birdsong Resort and Marina’s Freshwater Pearl Museum and Farm, they all waved and had their picture taken for the World Wide Web. Go to www.TennesseeRiverPearls.com and click on TOURS for the group’s photos.

We certainly enjoyed having them here in Tennessee and hope they will be visiting us again very soon, said Tori, staff member of Birdsong Resort and Marina.
