WLJT Holds Retreat In Benton County

CAMDEN, TN - WLJT Board of Directors converged from all over West Tennessee to Birdsong Resort, Camden, for a mini retreat Tuesday, October 25. The UT-Martin-based PBS station meeting included the board of directors, a national PBS representative, and key staff members – totaling 30 for the quarterly event.

BREDESEN AND CONTE WELCOME TROOPS HOME

Hattisburg/ Gulfport /Biloxi, Miss. - Governor Phil Bredesen and First Lady Andrea Conte traveled Thursday of last week, to Gulfport, Miss., where they welcomed the first soldiers of the Tennessee Army National Guard's 278th Regimental Combat Team home after nearly a year of duty in Iraq.

Cooper 'Hooks' New Boat In KLOT Classic

The Kentucky Lake Outdoor Tournament Trail held its Fall Classic at Birdsong Resort, Marina and Campground, Camden, October 15 and 16. Sullivan Outdoors' annual KLOT open bass tournament trail runs March through October with seven tournaments, and the season-end championship event on the Tennessee River's beautiful Kentucky Lake.

Tennessee Travel Documentary Features Two Benton County Attractions

Bennett-Watt Entertainment, creators of cultural, travel and sports documentaries, are in currently in progress of generating an entire library of "Discoveries... America." The travel documentaries collection features an individual edition on each of the fifty states, and is available in high-definition digital DVD or VHS. To date, twenty-nine states are in final form and available for purchase, with the remainder of the fifty states estimated to be completed within the next eighteen to twenty-four months. Tennessee's edition has just been released.

Big Cat Quest Brings Fishermen In From 12 States For Championship

CAMDEN - Slick "monsters" from the murky depths of the Tennessee River rolled across the weigh-in scales on Saturday, Sept. 24 and Sunday, Sept. 25. "Monster" catfish, that is.

The Bass Pro Shop's Big Cat Quest Open Catfish Tournament Trail ended its' 2005 trek throughout the Southeastern Region of the United States with a two-day championship event in Camden, Tennessee at Birdsong Resort, Marina and Campground.

West Tennessee Industrial and Commercial League Invitational Bass Tournament
DuPont Lands 2005 Bragging Rights


The 21st Annual West Tennessee Industrial & Commercial League Invitational Bass Tournament was held on Sunday, September 18th at Birdsong Resort, Marina and Lakeside RV and Tent Campground on the scenic Tennessee River's beautiful Kentucky Lake. Two hundred and forty eight (248) fishermen from area companies were able to spend a fun-filled day on Kentucky Lake, catch a few fish, enjoy Benton County's vast shoreline and even make new friends.

Disaster Relief Teams In Mississippi This Week

Local and area United Methodist Church Districts have formed disaster relief teams that are – or will be - assisting with clean up and recovery efforts from Hurricane Katrina. Under the organization of the Memphis UMC (United Methodist Church) Conference, three combined-district teams have been established that will maintain an organized schedule for arrival in the Katrina disaster-stricken area in rotating shifts of week-long periods.

'The Face Of Grace In Action'

As Mississippi begins pulling itself out of the rubble left by Hurricane Katrina, United Methodists have become "the face of grace in action."

"The response of the church has been the face of grace in action," said the Rev. Jeff Pruett of Tunica, the Mississippi Annual (regional) Conference coordinator for the United Methodist Committee on Relief. "It has been a reflection of the spirit of care and compassion."
